During the 1980’s after returning to the UK and establishing his studio, he was best known as a ceramicist working in porcelain. Winning a number of International awards for his work, he exhibited not only in the UK, but also on the continent and the USA. His work at this time was totally abstract and sculptural, consisting of interlocking hand constructed forms.
In 1988 an opportunity to move to the Netherlands resulted in a twenty year period of exhibiting mainly in Holland and Germany, both in galleries and International Art Fairs. It was during this time that he returned to working as a painter and has shown continuously with a small core of galleries, some for more that 15 years. More recently Peter has exhibited with the Zuleika Gallery, London and Flowers Gallery, London
His paintings are constructed from layers of wet paint which form the beginning of the working process. Like painting in reverse, he scrapes, smears and in other ways removes the paint from the canvas, revealing and obscuring what lies hidden. Making visible, the invisible.
